Performance of Linearity
Courtesy Joshua Monten
In September 2025, Upstage confirmed a new partnership with Swiss choreographer Joshua Monten for the East African debut of his internationally acclaimed work Linearity. Monten, alongside collaborating dancer Jack Wignall, is expected in Nairobi in late October 2025 for a series of performances and artist-led workshops supported by Pro Helvetia.
Linearity explores an inventive movement language shaped by the contrast between geometric precision and fluid, organic motion. The piece invites audiences to reflect on rhythm, control, and the human body’s relationship to form and pattern.
The Nairobi leg of the East Africa tour will be produced and managed by Upstage. It marks the first time Linearity will be performed in the region, and forms part of a broader artistic exchange across East Africa (after Nairobi, the company will continue on to Tanzania).
Full details on venues, dates, and ticketing will be announced in the coming weeks.
