Between 3–5 July 2026, Nairobi once again became a meeting point for dancers, choreographers, musicians, and audiences from around the world at the 7th Dance Life Festival - Kenya's leading international dance showcase event.
This year's edition of the Festival featured a vibrant programme of dance workshops, powerful main-stage performances, and a public street performance in Nairobi's busy Hilton Square, bringing dance directly into the heart of the city.
The programme welcomed artists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Switzerland, while continuing our longstanding commitment to showcasing the work of women choreographers, artists with disabilities, children, and indigenous cultural dancers. We were also encouraged by the growing enthusiasm from audiences, media, and emerging artists, reflecting the Festival's continued growth as a platform for artistic exchange and creative collaboration.
The Dance Life Festival 2026 was made possible through the generos support and partnership of Institut Français in Paris, Africalia, Goethe-Institut Kenia, Pro Helvetia, the Canton of Basel, TICAH, Artzone Studios, iN Nairobi, and Bila Mpaka Sounds.
The report attached below captures some of the Festival's key highlights, while reflecting on the progress we've made towards building one of East Africa's leading platforms for dance and the performing arts.
